Same story with any other raw converter of your choice.!!!! How uselees FastRawViewer is can be easily determined by noticing it offers access to a 'raw histogram' but there is nothing you can do with it, other than looking at meaningless numbers. Let's see: you look at your 'raw histogram' and then what? How do you use it? What is next? You have to go to Lightroom to look at Lightroom's ' defective' preview and ' defective' histogram and make decisions based on that ' defective' preview and that ' defective' histogram. It never mentions how it can be useful to people who use DxO, ACDSee, Capture One, Affinity Photo, etc. How useless FastRawViewer is can be easily determined by noticing it markets itself as some sort of 'solution' to a problem that does not exist in Lightroom. If a person can't tell how sharp or well exposed a picture is/isn't from looking at the Lightroom preview, something is wrong and that has nothing to do with Lightroom.įastRawViewer just adds a layer of extra clicks and work that users of mainstream raw converters don't need. From there I can right click and go right into Photoshop (ACR) to begin processing. until I am somewhat down the processing road, is determine how well focused the image is (quickly) and, if there is a clipping potential, how far I can go to recover highlights and shadows. Try it and you will see what I mean.īut what I can't do in Lightroom.
#USAGE OF RAWDIGGER PRO#
I know this will sound effete or snobbery, but FRV is more pro grade, while Lightroom is consumer grade. And, since I prefer ACR anyway, much of LR is duplicitous for me. To me, FRV is lighter, more capable (in things I use) and less prone to issues than Lightroom. The makers of FRV told me they are working to integrate EXIF search, which would be great.

#USAGE OF RAWDIGGER FULL#
Not to mention the annoying system freeze that LR does occasionally, even on my full loaded 2017 iMac. There is no catalog to deal with - of course there are good things you can do with catalogs, but you can also do the same things with the finder and folders. When I insert a card into my card viewer I can select all in FRV and copy the images into my chosen image folder. I can (as I could in LR) quickly judge a set of photos from an aesthetic point of view.
#USAGE OF RAWDIGGER FULL SIZE#
I have it set up to show thumbnails on one monitor, and a full size image view on the other. Rather, I will look at them in a set, and process the one I like best, then move to the next set. I tend to do things in a slower, more methodical way, and I do not bring in hundreds of photos at a time, so I am not looking for a fast and easy way to cull images. I prefer to do my raw edits in ACR, and then in Photoshop.

I have never liked Lightroom, yet I have owned it since the product was born, and still use it regularly. Or, in fact, to be praiseworthy of something before you actually use it. It is always easy to be critical of something before you have actually used it.
